The Lake Erie Loop Trip

A long weekend road trip, circling Lake Erie

This trip hits four U. S. states and one Canadian province in just four nights. Explore Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo, and Toronto, and spend some time admiring Niagara Falls and Cuyahoga Valley National Park, plus a remarkable museum in the Motor City.

Day 1

Detroit to Cleveland

This day began with some exploring in Detroit, then the road trip began. I headed south into Ohio, and over to the Cleveland area, to spend the afternoon in Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Day 2

Cleveland to Niagara Falls

This day began with some sightseeing in Cleveland, Ohio. Then I drove up the Lake Erie coast, through Pennsylvania, into New York, and finally into Ontario, to see Niagara Falls from both sides. I just happened to be at the falls for Canada Day celebrations.

Day 3

Exploring Toronto, then back to the U.S.A.

After a night spent near Toronto, I drove into the city and explored, then took a ferry out to Toronto Islands for a nice long walk, and sightseeing. In the afternoon, I left the city and drove over to Lake Huron, then crossed back over into the U.S.

Day 4

Finishing the trip in Detroit, at the Henry Ford

Before catching my flight home, I spent a few hours at the excellent Henry Ford Museum and the adjacent Greenfield Village.
