Marietta, Ohio: Lookout Park

Before setting out from Marietta, check out the view from Lookout Park.  Several signs point the way uphill to the viewpoint.  The hazy sky didn’t make for a great picture on the day I visited, however…

…you can see the Ohio River and Marietta’s downtown.

Leave Marietta on Ohio Rte. 550, headed west.  When you reach Rte. 339 at Barlow, you’ll turn right.  But before you do, stop at the crossroads to view the Mill Branch Covered Bridge.

This is one of Ohio’s most scenic covered bridges, thanks to the bicentennial logo emblazoned on both sides.   You can walk across the bridge to reach the Barlow Fairgrounds.
