Burlington, WV

If you’re not passing through Burlington, West Virginia in late September or early October, there’s not much of a reason to stop.  If you are in the area around that time, the tiny town hosts the annual Apple Harvest Festival.

Burlington, WV is located on US 50, in West Virginia’s eastern panhandle.

I was in Burlington several months early for the festival, so I stopped only to take a few pictures of a couple old buildings along the main road.

There’s the old A&M Grocery Store, which long ago served Garber’s Ice Cream.

I’m getting the feeling that A&M Grocery has been closed for quite some time.

Another building, just up the road from the grocery store, also caught my attention.

Note: This trip was first published in 2008.

You have gone more places in the mountain state than I have – I love route 50 and nice coverage of Burlington – how about the old gas station here?
