Winter Hikes: 3: Picacho Peak, Arizona

0

Reaching the top of Picacho Peak is part hike, and part climb.  It’s actually quite a brutal slog uphill in a couple of parts, and near the end you’ll have to pull yourself up using cables attached to the mountainside.  But you probably don’t want to do this hike in the summertime, since Picacho Peak is smack-dab in the middle of the Arizona desert.

Location

Picacho Peak State Park is located between Phoenix and Tucson, along Interstate 10 at exit 219.  This is the Picacho Peak exit, not the exit for Picacho, a community a few miles away.
