Mt. Walker Viewpoint over Puget Sound

Another brief detour off US 101 climbs quickly up Mt. Walker, ending at two separate viewpoints of Dabob Bay, and on a clear day, Puget Sound.  As the road gained altitude, I soon found myself inside a cloud.

The road to the Mt. Walker Viewpoint turns off to the right.  It’s a bit surprising, since up until now, all of the mountains have been on the left side of the road.

At the top of Mt. Walker you can choose two viewpoints.  One provides great views of the water and islands of Puget Sound, while the other opens up to a panorama of the mountains.

The on-and-off drizzle didn’t stop me from enjoying this viewpoint.

Just a few feet from the viewpoints, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a lush forest.  It’s perfect if a quick rain shower sneaks up on you (just like it did during my visit).

This is the view from the other viewpoint.  You can easily visit both, since neither require a long hike.
