About Me...
Thank you for taking a few
moments to enjoy my photography. I'll tell you a little
about myself here, but you can probably learn a lot more about
who I am, and the art I create, by simply looking through my
galleries.
I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.
I moved here in 1997. Until a few years ago, photography was just
an occasional interest. I didn't enjoy spending all that money on
film and developing. So, when digital cameras came along, I braced
myself, and plunked down about $600 for a 2 megapixel Sony
point-and-shoot. Yikes.
It didn't take long for me to discover
the joy of capturing an image for eternity. I've been fortunate
enough to travel around the state and the
country on a number of trips in the past few years, making photography
my primary goal.
That old 2 megapixel is long since
retired. In case you're wondering, I now shoot with a Sony Alpha
A-100 DSLR, along with some Tamron and Minolta lenses.
My favorite subjects? It's hard to
narrow down. Just when I think I've established one type of
subject as my favorite, something else comes along. Of course, I
love working with landscapes and nature scenes. I especially enjoy
old mining towns, fishing villages, and ghost towns--it seems time is
frozen in these places. Of course, living in Florida provides
endless opportunities for shooting sunsets and beach scenes. I
also enjoy photographing families and children, especially when they're
in their native environment, like a playground or park.
My work has been displayed at local
establishments such as Sip... Coffee House and Java 'n Cream
on Tampa's Davis Islands, and Mitchell's Coffee House in
Lakeland. Soon, my works will be available in the new
Tampa
Artist Emporium in Tampa's Old Hyde Park Village (Opening July
2007). I'm always looking for other local opportunities, so if you
know of a restaurant or other business that's looking for a local
artist, let me know.
