Alabama

Luverne, AL

Luverne, Alabama declares itself to be the "Friendliest City in the South".  I was just passing through, and didn't have any time to make friends in Luverne.  The truth is, I probably wouldn't have even stopped if I hadn't noticed this:

... the front doors of a business on Forest Avenue (essentially, the town's Main Street, a.k.a. US 29/331).  Look through the locked doors, and you can see the town's water tower.  That's because the rest of the building is gone -- but the facade remains, just like a movie set.

Good thing I didn't need gas, as I headed on south, towards the Florida panhandle.
