Saguaro National Park
Tucson Mtn. District - Signal Hill Petroglyphs

If you're looking for a short hike that's worth the effort, stop at Signal Hill.  The hike to the top of the hill doesn't take long (although you must pass an ominous sign warning of rattlesnakes in the area!).  Once you reach the top, you'll notice the pile of rocks are covered with ancient drawings.

After Signal Hill, I decided I had probably seen about all Saguaro National Park had to offer.  So, I left, headed for a destination on the other side of town, the Mount Lemmon Scenic Highway.

To get there, take Kinney Road south to Gates Pass Road, which will run into Speedway Boulevard.  Speedway will take you all the way across town.

As you leave Saguaro National Park through the southern exit, you'll enter Tucson Mountain Park.  The scenery is about the same: rolling desert peppered with saguaro and other cacti.  There is one unique attraction here: Old Tucson.  It's a wild-west movie studio theme park that Cowboy-and-Indian-movie fans should enjoy.  Check their website for more information.
