Escape to Canada, Option #7: Calgary, Alberta

0

With or without Donald Trump in the White House, the city of Calgary could still tempt you to relocate from the USA.  This beautiful western city has a crystal-clear river flowing right through the middle, and a view of the Rocky Mountains on the horizon.  Those mountains are close enough to visit on any day that you feel like taking a short drive.

Upon arrival in your new city, you’ll want to take an elevator ride up to the top of the Calgary Tower…

… to get an overall view of the city.

Calgary has a convenient rapid transit system…

… and a nice shopping district along Stephen Avenue…

… which takes you to Olympic Park — the center of events during the 1988 Winter Olympics.

And did I mention that it’s only about an hour to Banff, our next stop?

You can read more about my visits to Calgary here and here.

What do you think?  Would Calgary make a good place to live?  Did I miss a great Canadian town that should be on the list?  Want to yell at me about the results of the election? Hey, that’s what the internet is for!  Throw in your two cents in the comments below.

Oh, and you can also check out my guide to visiting Canada for Americans and my guide to Visiting the Rockies in Winter.  And if you decide to go for a visit, use the Booking.com search box on this page.  It’ll give you a great deal, and you’ll help support TakeMyTrip.com!
