Grosvenor Arch, Escalante – Grand Staircase Natl. Monument

0

Just a few miles south of Kodachrome Basin, then a mile off the main dirt road, you’ll find Grosvenor Arch.  A paved trail takes you from the parking area, to directly beneath the main span of the arch.  The arch itself is 152 feet in the air, and it seems is almost always contrasted against a perfect deep blue sky.

Grosvenor Arch was discovered by a National Geographic expedition in the 1940’s, and named for the Society’s founder, Gilbert Grosvenor.

Looking straight up from below the arch.
