Between Gunnison and Cañon City, US Rte. 50 runs alongside the Arkansas River. Several rest stops provide the chance to stand by the side of the river, and watch white water rafters float by. If you want to give rafting a try, you’ll find plenty of tour companies along the road, with signs advising that reservations aren’t necessary.
If you’re here during wildflower season, you’ll also find plenty of flowers blooming in the area.
If you don’t want to raft or pick flowers, there’s little to do between here and our next stop, Royal Gorge Park. But the good news is, there’s plenty to do at the park, so keep moving along.
