Arches National Park: Landscape Arch

0

More incredible views of the LaSal Mountains, contrasted against rounded red slickrock.

You’ll find these views along the trail to Landscape Arch… which is the next stop.

Here’s a tip: bring a wide angle lens, or else you’ll never capture a decent picture of Landscape Arch.  It’s incredibly wide, and due to the risk of collapse, the viewing area is limited.  (The trail used to continue up underneath the arch, until a major chunk of rock broke off the right side, and crashed to the ground, several years ago.)

From Landscape Arch, you can continue on to Partition Arch, Navajo Arch, Double O Arch, and Private Arch.

In the interest of time, this was my last long journey down a trail to see an arch.  I went back into Moab (I needed to buy more digital memory for my camera), then headed on to Canyonlands National Park.

This page is all about my first visit to Arches National Park, in 2004.  I returned in 2005 (in the middle of a rare rainstorm, no less!).  If you’d like to read about my second visit to Arches National Park, click here.
