Winter Hikes: 7: Many Pools Trail, Zion

0

Zion National Park has some really great trails, and not all of them are on the map.  If you want to escape the crowds and find your own path, give the Many Pools Trail a try.  This trail is located on Zion’s east side, and follows a sloping drainage past dozens of potholes, some of which hold water year-round.  The view behind you gets better the further you go.

Location

The trailhead for Many Pools Trail is unmarked.  Watch for a parking area on the outside of a big curve, 2.3 miles from the east entrance to the tunnel.  Park there, then walk a short distance on the road, headed east.  Keep an eye on the left side of the road, looking for a path that takes you down into the drainage.  The trail begins here.
