Snow isn’t a concern on these islands surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, just off the Los Angeles coast. But, choppy seas could make the boat ride to the islands challenging. Pop a Dramamine and hold onto your seat for a voyage out to Santa Cruz Island, which is part National Park and part private conservatory. A guided hike takes you from Prisoners Harbor to Pelican Bay, for some great views of the ocean. Try to spot a rare Island Scrub Jay or Santa Cruz Island Fox along the way.
