Forsyth, Georgia

Forsyth, Georgia was my final small-town stop before committing to the long drive south on Interstate 75.  It’s a nice little town with a big town square…

… surrounding the Monroe County Courthouse.

Among the storefronts that surround the courthouse, you’ll find the Rose Theater.  It was restored in 2005, and is now home to The Backlot Players.

[tmt_info =””]The Rose Theater building was constructed in 1904, and used as a grocery store until the 1940’s, when it was converted into a movie theater.  In the 70’s, somebody got the great idea to rip off the roof and create an open-air bar — so obviously, it needed a great deal of restoration!
